Projects

I have learnt some cool cartographic techniques and methods to present spatial data. Here is a glimpse of some of the projects I am proud of...

Vietnam Mission

GIS 321- New Media for GIS

This was an assignment project which taught me some of the cool methods to present the point data on a map. The assignment was done for GIS 321 and made us take a training on Esri on "Cartographic creations on ArcGIS Pro".

The output was a poster displaying bombing missions by USA on Vietnam, Combodia and Laos during Vietnam war.

Land Surface Temperature of Vernon

GIS - 307 Remote Sensing

This was a term project for GIS 307 - Remote Sensing for Resource Management. I learnt to use satellite imagery and raster calculator tool to find the land surface temperature of City of Vernon, British Columbia.

I used Thermal Infrared Sensor (band10) of Landsat-8 to calculate LST. The output shows the hotspots in the city.

Crime Hotspots of Vancouver

GIS-314 Database Management

This was an assignment project for GIS 314 - Database Management. I learnt to use the software QGIS to run the hexabin analysis to find out the hotspots of crime incidences in the City of Vancouver.

The final output is a poster layout.

Accuracy comparison of GPS devices

GIS-323 Introduction to GPS and GNSS

This was a term project for GIS 323 - Introduction to GPS and GNSS. I learnt to use the different GPS devices and mobile applications to collect data. In this project, I compared the accuracy of data collected from different methods and devices.

The final output is in the form of a poster layout.

Visualization of LiDAR data

GIS-307 Remote Sensing

This was an assignment project for GIS 307 - Remote Sensing for Resource Management. I learnt to use the LiDAR dataset and visualize it. The LiDAR data is a high resolution data and captures the fine details of the features on ground.

The final output is in the form of a layout.
